Manchester United vs. West Ham

For those soccer fans out there who missed the Manchester United vs. West Ham game yesterday, you should definitely look for the re-run on Fox Soccer Channel this week. What an awesome game. Even if you know the result it doesn't matter. Back and forth action the whole time.

Plus, you get to watch Spector shut down Ronaldo. Well, ok...he didn't exactly shut him down totally but he did a pretty good job. I don't think I've ever seen anyone completely shut down that whining pretty boy and his endless bag of step over tricks.

Ronaldo has such a bag of tricks, yet he literally tries to beat each defender 3 or 4 times before he goes by him. I think he likes dancing on his toes more than anything else. That does not exactly fly in the premier league. The guy is a joy to watch sometimes, but I woudl have to think he is better suited for La Liga instead. Good to see Spector doing well though, he has matured in the past 2 years tremendously.

Spector ended up getting the official man of the match award. I still see him get beat on too many crosses and shots from outside of the box for my liking...but I guess if the guy doing that to you is Ronaldo...then maybe it is understandable.

I agree, but he was certainly trying to contain rather than pressure. Seemed like West Ham were content with giving United long range efforts (18+), and were defending against United's speed on the flanks. But yeah, that does not always work. In the Everton game last week, Chelsea had 2 goals becuase the defense didn't step up, and Chealsea hit a few 25 yarders...
