I am disappointed he chose Italy, but he had always said, even in his very young days, that he wanted to represent Italy. He never gave the impression, or led people to believe otherwise. It was a risk for him to say that when he did at such a young age, and he didn't even have a call-up from Italy at the time. He has worked hard to achieve his dream, and he is a product of New Jersey, so I for one, am happy for him. Furthermore, he never has any disrespectful things to say about the US program, yet @ss-clowns like Bruce Arena were trashing him ever since he declined an invitation to train with the Nats prior to the 2006 WC.
Bottom line, the US program is mediocre at best (watch up go 0-3 at the Confed Cup). He had a chance to play for one of the greatest footballing countries of the ages, took the chance, and it worked out for him.
