Estadio Saprissa

The US MNT takes on Costa Rica tonight in a World Cup qualifier at the Estadio Saprissa, a stadium we have never won in before. Soccer By Ives posted some photos of the stadium. It looks like a prison. Check it out.

Not only have we never won there, we have never tied in that stadium either. Our one draw was played in another stadium. And both of those streaks continue.

Embarassing Display. The US not being able to win there (and the aura that surrounds it) is like England complaining that they just can't squeak out a win in Northern Ireland. Good teams find a way to win, regardless of venue, on more occassions than they dont. Fact of the matter is, this US team is not that good. No true #10, No Consistent Offensive Threat, Shaky Outside Backs...

Also, side note. The photos of the US team when they got off the plane in Nike Billboard T's was plain embarrassing (photos on the MNT Blog). Every other national team gets off a plane and look much more representable, most of the time sporting suits. My high school coach wouldn't let us step off the bus if we looked like they did. It's just pathetic, they look like a amatuer side. Present youreself like a professional. Be professional in EVERYTHING you do. That's what being a professional is.

Man, that got me fired up...
