Do people in Alaska really talk like that?

Ugh. Maybe I just don't like the accent. Am I supposed to be impressed by politicians talking down to me?

I haven't heard the story, but NPR is on the case: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=95306504

She's a Joe-Six-Pack, just like us!! She wouldn't talk down to us, her life is JUST LIKE OURS.

(The accent sounds very Minnesota/Wisconsin to me. My boss lived in Alaska for 20 years and said that no one sounds like that there.)

Yep, she is just like me and I shouldn't be vice president either.

A quote:

"As democracy is perfected, the office of President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." - H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

Has this "great and glorious day" already arrived? If so, us "plain folk" can't take it anymore.

Whatever the accent, I find her completely irritating. A bit scary that there is roughly a 33% chance she could become president in McCain's first term (based on some actuarial #s I saw).
