Google Calendar

I'm trying out Google Calendar and the interface is nice. It looks like it could be a good tool to help me coordinate my busy life with my wife's busy life. Unfortunately, my company uses Outlook for calendar events and it doesn't seem possible to establish a live link to that data. You can export your Outlook Calendar and import it to Google, but this would probably only be something I would do weekly so the calendar would essentially be out of date...not a real good solution.

It would be nice if there was a way to maintain a live data version of my work Outlook calendar (which I use to track all personal appointments as well) so that people not in my company could see my calendar and stay on the same page with my schedule.

My take exactly. Until there is a good way to sync between Google Calendar and Outlook Google Calendar won't do much for me. I wanted to use it the same way you want to, to be able to easily share calendar information with family.

Check out http://www.plaxo.com/
I use it to synch my Address book but it also has a calendar synch feature. Test it out and tell me what you think?!?!

Desk Calendar? You must not use an electronic calendar. :-) Outlook has enabled me to become organized (to an extent). Finally.

Plaxo: I am sketched out by Plaxo for two reasons:
1. People who join end up spamming me with invitations to join.
2. To synch with Outlook, you have to install a "toolbar." I usually read this as "spyware."
So this thing really works for you though? Cause I am hesitant about that Plaxo. Sounds like an allergy pill.

So Yahoo Calendar can sync with Outlook. I really want Google Calendar to do this because I like Google better in general and am a Gmail user. However, for making my calencar available to Susan and seeing my calendar alongside Susan's (which includes all of the kids' goings on and such) it could prove to be really nice.

so what do all of you bloggers do when there is a storm and no power?
or your PC crashes?
or you are running from mother nature?

Cool. I'll have to try Yahoo and see how it works. At the very least, it will be better than a desk calendar.

sineddie, I have backup PCs in case of crash (Including my work laptop this is a four computer home). I have a list of local wi-fi hotspots in case my internet connectivity goes out. Who is this "mother natuer" character you refer to?
