US MNT vs Spain

Anyone watch the US vs Spain game? The 1-0 loss was another non-event in my mind. Except of course for two points:

  1. Freddy Adu looks good. Period. He needs to start more and play more. He was one of the only interesting highlights for that 90 minutes of my day.
  2. Eddie Johnson is horrible. Why do we continue to put him on the field. Give up on him now and start grooming someone else.
US vs Argentina this upcoming Sunday! Please please please God, let us win one.

We're not going to beat #1 Argentina. If we were going to win one, it would have been the England game. The reason? We aren't playing to win. We are playing to see who's going to get called up for the Qualifiers(Barbados on the 15th).

If we were playing to win, EJ would be on the bench for Altidore or Landy-cakes, Adu would play a full 90 minutes, and we'd play a better formation than a 4-5-1.

I'm pretty sure Altidore won't play and neither will Landy-cakes. That leaves us with EJ or Wolff. Pick your poison. As much as I hate the hoops, Kenny Cooper needs to get the call-up for this game.

Sunday may be really ugly if Argentina is playing for a win. Spain took it easy, didn't tackle hard, and really just wanted to work the legs loose before the Euro's.

I think my 15 month old son could have done better on that header from the 6 yard box than Johnson. At least get it on goal. I think it was harder to miss from that spot! I woudl be suprised if he steps on the field for Fulham.
