Novel - I Am (Featuring Ben Folds, Talib Kweli, and Spree Wilson)

You'll find all kinds of music on my play lists, including hip hop. I am pretty ignorant about mainstream hi hop so I am not sure if this artist is well known or not, but after listening to this tune, I think he should be. Now, if you are a fan of Ben Folds, be forewarned, he samples the amazing song, The Luckiest (featured below as well). IMHO, both are great in their own way.

Here is the Ben Folds tune. Beautiful.

Don't want to sound rude but someone took a very selfless song and turned it into a song about...themselves. I think they should have left "The Luckiest" , alone. I don't think the appropriation does justice to the original.

Good observation, not rude at all. Although since the song is not a cover, I am not sure the intent is to mimic the same spirit as the original. If it was a true cover, I think I would agree with you.

I am ok with this song having a much different feel from the sampled song since Ben actually worked with Novel on it - to me that says something about the sample/remake that was done...alhtough I could do without the one line that ends in "bitch" ;-)

Thanks for the insightful comment. As a big Ben Folds fan, I figured this one would get your attention in some fashion :-)

Yes, I'm definitly glad you featured Ben and I'm not suprised he worked with Talib Kweli (who I'm not against either i do like some of his work) But Ben doesnt't seem to suprise me much since he covered Bitches ain't shit. Thanks for the info. Hope you guys have a good Arkansas Christmas.
