US vs. Czech Republic: 3-0
Not a good day for US soccer fans - we fell to the Czech Republic 3-0. Honestly, I thought we played ok in the first half except for the 2 mistakes that the Czech's converted on. When you are playing at this level, mistakes are costly. My major point of frustration is how we failed to adjust our attack as the game progressed. We derive a lot of our offense from attacking down the flanks and hitting crosses into the box. The Czech's beat us to every ball in the air and I think we needed to adjust. In fact, our best chances came when we built around the top of the 18 and hit shots from 18-20 yards out. Personally, I think we should have focused on penetration into the box via some creative ball work (or) focused more on shooting from the perimeter.
Next up is Italy - I know that game will be awesome - even if we lose. Look for me in the crowd, face painted and screaming like an eagle.

Couldn't agree with you more. If you make a mistake against Jamaica, Honduras, or Panama, not a huge deal. Make a mistake against one of the best teams in the world...goal 9 times out of 10. That is the difference. If Reyna's shot goes in, instead of off the post to tie the game at 1, I would like to think the result would have been different. Honestly, it probably would have been a 3-1 loss. The Czech's outplayed us in every aspect.
Hopefully Koller is not to badly injured for the Czechs, as it would be a shame to see a star of the World Cup be forced out with an injury so early on.
As if the Italy game wasn't big enough....
