With that World Cup "showing," US soccer was eliminated and thrown back another four years. (Sorry about the last post, it was me as well.) We had very little possession (ie. Reyna in the final third) and almost none in the final third. Our attack was extremely predictable with attempting to go down the flank and wipping it in behind their defense or serving it to too few in the box. Defensively, our keeping was not an advantage, and we had a hard time staying goalside with our marks (ie Oguchi's PK and Czech's first goal). Additionally, our younger players provided little hope for the future (Donovan who? Oguchi is just a M.S. Div 1 hack. Beasely is light on the ball). For some 'c'ilver lining...Conrad and Convey.

Additionally, FIFA needs to institute technology (replay) to substantially punish ($ and game suspensions) after the game any dives or fake injuries during the match. It's eroding the game.

"In 100 years that's not a penalty," said Landon Donovan (SI article).

I'm already tired of hearing this excuse. Referees are never the reason for losing. Poor player and coaching decisions put teams in the position to lose. Our roster and staff did this consistently during the three games.

so is the USA still in it? says the man who watches no soccer and has not played since 1990 when his knee decided to explode resulting in a series of curse words that would make a sailor seem like a priest.
