Following Instructions

I've been going to the same "garage" every morning to get the paper, right next door to our hotel. The owners are really friendly and engage in a conversation with me about our trip, the games or whatever else seems to come to mind. I thought this exchange was pretty interesting.

Owner: Are you enjoying the games?
Me: Absolutely!
Owner: And you are having a nice stay?
Me: Yeah - everyone here is so friendly! Everywhere we go people are just so nice.
Owner: Our President, he told us to make sure we were nice to everyone who comes here.
Me: Really?
Owner: Yes! He said, 'Be Nice!'
Me: Well, you guys are doing a great job.
