When the seagulls follow the trawler...

"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea"

It's been a while since Eric was on our radar but he reappeared today courtesy of a rugby player who took it upon himself to leave the field of play mid-game and assault a fan. Despite the claims by A Kick in the Grass ( Manchester United Blog), this comes no where close to the fun that is Eric Cantona.

For those of you new to Eric, all you need to know is this:

Yes. That is a soccer player catapulting himself into the stands and kung-fu kicking an opposition supporter. When asked why he did this, his response to the press was the quote in the header of this post. I love this story. I love the fact that Nike used Eric in their Joga Bonito spots. I love this guy's face in the stands.

And yes, I have discussed this before back when we all came to the realization regarding why Zidane lost his cool. Click here to find out the real reason.

All that being said, the appearance of Cantona's name on my RSS feed led me to want to relive the story a little and throw out a great gift idea for any of you soccer fanatics out there. Check out the t-shirt below which is available on philosophyfootball.com (sports outfitters of intellectual distinction).

Cantona made the "collar-up-look" cool. One of the coolest footballers ever.

Is that true? I didn't know he started that trend...plus, I didn't know it was cool.
